Thank you for this beautiful blog! It brought joy to my heart to read how your time at the DPB House showed you the love of our Lord. I too join with you in praying that Jesus will continue to use this ministry to demonstrate and live out what it looks like to love God and love one another. Thank you for putting into words what so many are afraid to address when one or both of the spouses are Christians. Most can’t comprehend the deep damage this type of abuse causes, and won’t accept that it can happen in a Christian marriage/ family. Unknowly, many people isolate the emotionally abused spouse even more when they finally share their pain and reach out for help. The common response to the victim is “pray and stay” for the family’s sake. As you pointed out, often times that’s what they’ve been doing…some for 10, 20 even 30 years.

Julie, He is indeed good to us through our children, especially when we see them living out His love! He is also good to give us laughter and each other as aids through these daily “disasters”.

I love this. Thanks for making me laugh out loud. You and your family gave me many memories as well and I have been so blessed by your mom’s loving care and her mentality of “what’s one more?”. It was always a grand adventure being at your house.

Thank you for saying what I was feeling. The 25th was a very depressing day for me. No family gatherings, no presents, just a Skype call to the girls and that seemed to make it even worse. I felt like Charlie Brown but there was no Linus the help me.

Later that day Jo and I went for a walk ( one of Norway’s great blessings) and we shared our blues with each other. I reflected on my 2 Christmas’ in the military overseas and how those didn’t seem to bother me as much ( probably because I was single and didn’t care).

While I didn’t hear angel’s voices, I did know that my perspective had been changed. Father had heard my anguish and given me peace even though I hadn’t specifically asked for it.

I agree with you that Merry Christmas does often seem flippant but I thank God for all those who say it.
